On Stage - A Drama CampInstructor: Betsy Langley
This workshop will focus on the designing and writing of an original one act play to be performed by the students on the last day. The students will begin by reading several one act plays. They will consider what a one act play looks like and how the playwright works within the shorter time constraints to create the characters, setting and action intended to portray the writer’s theme. Exercises in creating characters and dialogue will be worked on every day. Practice in designing the stage and blocking the action will be studied as well. The students will explore directing instructions and acting ideas as they study the art. While learning and practicing their craft, the students will collaboratively become the playwrights and actors, directors and producers in their own play.
